🪡 August Assignment Thread: Creaturedom (due today)

I'm dying to know how this month's field assignment went!

Hi friends! This is a thread just you, my paid subscribers. In addition to getting my monthly emails, you get to participate in a monthly prompt where I send you out into the world for an assignment. I’ll also be offering an essay-writing workshop soon just for paid subscribers as a thank you (so stay tuned).

You can post whatever you wrote below in response to August’s on-assignment prompt or you can simply talk about the experience (use the questions below to help you). It doesn’t have to be a polished piece. You also can read my own creaturely essay here.

Here was our August prompt:

Visit some place a little wild. You get to choose. The only parameter is that it’s a space where you are not the dominant species. Pick a pasture of cows perhaps or a menagerie. Go to the zoo or the aquarium. Visit a farm or ranch or animal shelter. Go walk in the woods or wade in a lake and listen to what the invisible insects and tiny fish have to say. Interview a horse. Eavesdrop on squirrels
