Make 2025 that year to finally pursue your writing. We’d love to have you.
We’re a vibrant community of over 200 poets and lyrical essayists who care deeply about craft and each other. Through a robust curriculum, weekly core groups, guest speakers, generative sessions, critique circles, and irl meetups, Sustenance transforms the way you write.
Sustenance writers go on to do and write remarkable things. Our writers consistently get accepted into MFA programs, place work in literary magazines, are featured readers at events, and publish both full-length manuscripts and chapbooks.

If you're reading this and thinking about joining - do it! I've been a member for just over a year, and in that year I've started writing on Substack, sharing my writing on Instagram, getting my work published in journals, and making lots of progress on longer term projects - all things I didn't have the courage or commitment to do before joining. In addition to learning from incredible teachers and being a part of a truly special community Joy has built. It's absolutely worth it!
Hello! Sustenance is a great place to be. I love the option to participate in classes and get quick feedback from the community when I post new drafts of work. ❤️
